What is Telepsychiatry?

Telepsychiatry is the application of telemedicine to the specialty field of psychiatry.  The term typically describes the delivery of psychiatric assessment and care through telecommunications technology, usually videoconferencing.

At Sagebrush Psychiatry our goal is to make mental health services more convenient and accessible.  Telepsychiatry also reduces delays in care, improves continuity of care, and reduces the need for our patients to schedule time off work or find childcare.  Studies continue to show that telepsychiatry outcomes are equivalent to traditional in-person care.

Is it easy to use? Will I need to download anything?

All you need is reliable internet access and a device that has a functioning camera and microphone.  You can use desktop or laptop computers, tablets, even cell phones.  There is no need to download software and instructions to access your appointment are simple and straightforward.  You will receive an email with link to click and access your appointment – it really is that simple.
