Take the Next Step With Medication Management for Anxiety

Sagebrush Psychiatry can help you review anxiety symptoms, medication options, side effects, and follow-up so your medication management for anxiety plan feels clearer to follow with support.

At Sagebrush Psychiatry our mission is to improve access to mental health services for patients that reside in Nevada, Alaska, and Arizona.  Our practice is mostly telemedicine, but we do conduct in person office visits when deemed necessary and require in person appointments for patients taking controlled substances. Telemedicine allows us to provide more immediate and flexible scheduling to meet each patient’s needs. Many of our patients report that conducting their appointments from home is not only more convenient, but less stressful. Currently we are accepting new patients and in network with most major insurances. We strive to form a collaborative relationship with each patient and develop an individualized treatment plan to achieve results.

Initial Diagnostic Evaluation

Initial diagnostic evaluations consist of a comprehensive interview to explore the reasons for your visit, past psychiatric history, medical history, and social history. Patients transferring care will often be asked to sign a release of information form so that we can obtain medical records from your previous prescriber and review your treatment history prior to your appointment. During the evaluation, patients will be given the opportunity to ask questions and have treatment options explained. At Sagebrush Psychiatry we want every patient to understand treatment options and make informed decisions. Our goal is to develop an evidence-based treatment plan where you understand the potential risks and benefits of each treatment option. Our prescriptive philosophy is to get patients feeling better with as few medications as possible and at the lowest dose that adequately addresses problematic symptoms.

Follow-Up Appointments

Follow-up appointments are used to assess a patient’s response to medication and other interventions. We will often use evidence-based tools such as psychometric scales to objectively track progress. This is the time you and your clinician will discuss possible changes to your treatment plan to achieve treatment goals.

Contact Sagebrush Psychiatry

Requests for an appointment can be made via the contact form or by clicking the link at the top of the page. You will be asked to complete a new patient packet prior to scheduling so we can ensure that we will be able to meet your needs.  Once you have completed the new patient packet, you will then receive an email with instructions on how to schedule your appointment via your patient portal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Anxiety medication depends on the diagnosis, symptoms, health history, and treatment goals. Common options may include SSRIs, SNRIs, buspirone, or short-term medications for severe anxiety symptoms when clinically appropriate.

For many anxiety disorders, providers often consider SSRIs or SNRIs as first-line medication options. The right starting point depends on your symptoms, current medications, medical history, and side effect concerns.

Sagebrush Psychiatry is in network with most major insurances. Your cost depends on your plan, benefits, deductible, and copay. Sagebrush can provide an estimate before your appointment, but patients should confirm coverage with their insurance plan.

There is no single safest anxiety medication for everyone. Safety depends on your diagnosis, medical history, current medications, side effect risk, and how your body responds over time.

Zoloft and Lexapro are both used for anxiety, but one is not automatically better for every person. The better fit depends on diagnosis, past medication response, side effects, other medications, and treatment goals.
